Brakes

Brake are a from the most critical component of your NSX.
Upgrading these properly will not only improve safety but also improve your track times.

Please keep in mind, brake upgrades should always aim for a balanced bias setup.

Common questions,

Which style brake rotor/disc? | Upgrading brakes, which steps? | Better ABS?

Drilled versus Slotted which is better?

We always recommend slotted as these are stronger and more stable.
Drilled rotors often form hairline cracks over time.

What Steps should I take when upgrading my brakes?

From a performance point of view:

  Use for:
Stage 1
Slotted rotor/disc, Braided brake lines, Performance brake pads, Racing brake fluid

Light track
Heavy street

Stage 2

For NA1 owners, Upgrading to NA2 brakes
NA2 owners please see stage 3

Light track
Heavy street
Stage 3
ASM OEM BBK, Large diameter 2 piece rotors with OEM calipers, not only is fading reduced and torque increased you are also reducing unsprung weight Medium track
Heavy street
Stage 4
Full BBK setup, 4 or 6 piston fixed calipers, 2 piece large diameter rotors. Racing use
Heavy street
Stage 5
Ultimate Big brake kit, we can specifically design a brake kit for you completely balanced to your specific NSX. Racing use
Heavy street

For the majority of NSX's Stage one should be just fine, for those with longer track-days, demanding mountain driving, forced induction, Stage 3 should be ideal.

2001-2005 ABS System
This is not only a much lighter system but a better operating system.
It's also more reliable and less prone to failure.
